2011 Season Kicks Off!

Newest Adler Team member, Igor Volshteyn, has kicked off the 2011 season in Texas at the Walburg road race.  Igor finished a credible 14th place in the Pro/1 race.  Coming from the snowy northeast and racing against guys who can train outside year round, this humble blogger is more than impressed with Igor’s early season form.   Here is what Igor had to say:

Race went pretty well…14th in a strong P/1 field of 60 or so. The race completely splintered in a headwind/crosswind section on the second of three 25 mile loops. By the time we caught the leaders it was down to about 30 of us. Almost immediately after we caught the winning move of 8 guys went. I was there but so tired from chasing that I couldn’t go with. Ended up in the second group of 20 or so and had a little left for a lengthy uphill finish to get 6th in our group.

Congrats to Igor, you can read more about the race at: http://teambrainandspinecycling.com/

Also, I would like to welcome Igor, and all the other newest team members to J.A. racing.  They include Kevin Rooney, Wei Chen, and Mitch Jacaruso.  We should have info about them on the Bio page shortly.

Greg 2nd Overall for Bethel 2010 Spring Series

A good showing for Jonathan Adler Racing this weekend. Ken Harris impressively wins the 1/2/3 Spring Series race at Floyd Bennett Field with an early 2 man break in the windy 50 mile race.

Greg Olsen rounds out the weekend with triple podiums with a 3rd place in the CRCA A race Saturday morning. Then Sunday, in Adler fashion going early in a 2 man break and winning the Bethel 1/2/3 Spring Series race moving him from 10th in the series to 2nd overall for the entire Bethel 2010 series.

NE Rapha Gentlemen's Race Team Adler

Here are the gentlemen (questionable) and gentlewoman before the race. Teams were sent out in waves based on categories of the riders. 6:30 hours, 120 miles, and 8182 feet of climbing later, it was over. See the profile below. We came in second to last. We made a wrong turn at one point and then had to stop for a mechanical as well for some water here and there.   There will be more photos and a better description of the race than I can put together now at www.rapha.cc in the coming weeks. There are also some photos already here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/raphacc/sets/72157618708667273/ NE Rapha Gentlemen's Race course profile
